Gary Forman has over 40 years of experience in the energy industry. Gary began his career as an engineer and held progressively increasing positions of responsibility including project manager, superintendent of construction and director of operations for companies such as Commonwealth Gas Pipeline, Columbia Hydrocarbon Corporation and Columbia Gas Transmission Corporation. With a focus on operations and engineering for over 25 years, he gained extensive experience in such areas as design, construction and operations of natural gas facilities. For a time, he held the responsibility for operations of over 14,000 miles of transmission pipeline across a 10 state area. During this period, he also successfully managed the development and operations and emergency management center that was the bench mark for the industry.


Subsequent to the events of September 11, 2001, Gary changed his focus from operations to security of the energy industry. He became Chief Security Officer for Columbia Pipelines and Director of Security for NiSource Corporation. In his director's position, he held responsibility for all facets of physical security for this $7 billion plus electric and natural gas corporation, including security for all personnel, facilities and systems. Gary gained extensive experience in areas such as workplace violence prevention and management, investigation of alleged wrongdoing, management of security monitoring centers and security support of capital projects.


In addition to his internal corporate duties, Gary became actively involved as a liaison with various state and federal agencies. As an active trade association member, Gary served as Chair of the American Gas Association Security Committee and Chair of the Interstate Natural Gas Association of America Security Committee. As the critical infrastructure public private security partnership was being refined by industry and the Department of Homeland Security, Gary became a charter member of the Oil and Natural Gas (ONG) Sector Coordinating Council and served as its first Vice-Chairman in 2005. He then became its Chairman in 2006. Gary also served as Chairman of the Pipeline Sector Coordinating Council for 3 years. During this period of significant development of security practices in the ONG industry, Gary was one of the co-authors of the Department of Energy's Sector Specific Plan and was one of the two industry representatives to sign the plan. Gary also provided extensive input into the Transportation Security Administration's Sector Specific Plan - Pipeline Annex.


Mr. Forman holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering and a Master's in Business Administration. He has participated in numerous training programs including the FBI’s Domestic Security Executive Academy. He is a Certified Protection Professional (CPP), Professional Certified Investigator (PCI), a registered Personal Protection Specialist (PPS) as well as a registered Professional Engineer (PE). Among other awards, in 2013 he was honored by the American Gas Association for his "outstanding leadership" in advancing the security of the natural gas industry and he has been personally recognized by Secretary's of both the Department of Energy and the Department of Homeland Security for his contributions to the nation's energy industry.
